Uptake clock & SUV
Registration, injection and uptake: the numbers every SUV depends on.
FDG registration takes the patient's weight, height and blood glucose, the injected activity and the injection time, with weight-based FDG dosing for children. The uptake clock runs from injection, and SUVbw and SUVlbm are read from what was registered.

How it works
Three steps, on a real console workflow.
Register the patient
Enter weight, height and glucose, then the activity and the injection time. For a child, the FDG activity is worked out from the weight.
Wait out the uptake
The uptake clock runs from the injection time; the exam knows when the patient is ready to scan.
Read SUV
SUV is shown body-weight normalised (SUVbw) or lean-body-mass normalised (SUVlbm), from the registration you entered.
What feeds the SUV
| Entry | Where it is used | What it teaches |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | SUVbw, paediatric FDG activity | Why a wrong weight moves every SUV on the report |
| Height | SUVlbm (lean body mass) | When lean-body-mass normalisation is the fairer number |
| Blood glucose | FDG registration | Why glucose is checked before an FDG injection |
| Activity and injection time | Uptake clock, SUV | Timing and decay as part of the measurement |
In the classroom
How programs use it
- Register the same patient with two different weights and compare the SUVbw readouts.
- Work out a paediatric FDG activity from the weight, then check it against the console.
- Read one lesion in SUVbw and SUVlbm and discuss which a follow-up report should use.
